Sorry for the silly question, but I noticed from reading the websites and these posts, that dogs are not allowed on trails in any national park in the States. I am planning my holiday for this summer, first heading to South Dakota for 1 week and then was hoping to do either Yellowstone and/or Grand Teton for another week. I have 2 dogs that are not able to stay home and come with us on every trip we take. What campgrounds allow dogs and are there ample places to walk them without going on the trails where they are prohibited? Also, which campground would you recommend? We prefer privacy over service oriented campgrounds. I do not want to leave the dogs in the car all day. Thanks for all the info.
Grand Teton camping with dogs
You can walk your dogs in the campgrounds, in parking lots and within 6%26#39; of roads. www.nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/pets.htm
You may want to consider a kennel for the day so you can enjoy some trails and your pets will be safe.
