Horse Riding in the Park

hi guys,

me and the wife are making our maiden trip to Yellowstone this coming June. We are there early June and for my wifes birthday, we want to do a few hours horse riding in the park.

I have found

http://www.yellowstone.ws/

is this the only place that do horse riding trips actually in the park?

Has anyone been with them and did they enjoy it? They seem quite pricey but I%26#39;m guessing the extra money is worth it for actually riding in the park.

We are stopping at the Canyon Lodge the night before which seems central so hopefully easy to get to where they are going.

thanks

Tony

Horse Riding in the Park

The only horseback riding I%26#39;ve done in the Park has been with the YNP concessionaire Xanterra: www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/horseride.htm

I%26#39;ve ridden at both Canyon and Roosevelt - different scenery, but both were fun.

This is a link for all the outfitters permitted to operate in the Park: ttp://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/stockbusn.htm

Have Fun!

Oops - let%26#39;s try that again: www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/stockbusn.htm

We rode horses to the cookout at Roosevelt. Food was good...scenery was wonderful. The incremental cost of riding horses was a good deal if you are thinking of doing the cookout! Book ASAP!

thanks guys. After reading reviews and checking prices, I%26#39;m quite tempted to go with the flying pig company.

That said it won%26#39;t book it just yet so please keep suggestions coming!

thanks

Rode horses as a kid age 12 at Canyon some 55 years ago. Ah! Memories!

Tony,

If you do book with Flying Pig, please come back and give us a review. We get a lot of questions about them, but no-one seems to have any first-hand experience with them to share.

Thanks - and Have Fun!

If you are really serious about horseback riding in YNP I suggest you hire a private outfitter to take you to places very few ever see. Places like the upper meadows of Slough Creek or up past Agate Creek on the Yellowstone river or up to the headwater of the Lamar.
