Yellowstone vacation planned for June 6-12

My family (kids ages 10,10,9) will be staying in Yellowstone cabins in early June for 6 nights. The first 4 nights in Roosevelt Rough Rider w/3 double beds and the final 2 nights @ Mammoth Budget Cabins. Does anyone know if there are fire rings or grills in these areas?

We could also use some help planning. Please give us your ideas on the following: best horseback riding stable, wildlife viewing areas, fishing streams, visitor centers, hikes, etc.

We are packing the bug spray and I guess the mud boots and thermals?

Does anyone know of a website that would have a schedule of planned Ranger led programs?

All tips appreciated.

Here is a web site describing the ranger led hiking program in Yellowstone.

As for you other questions... There is horseback riding available at The Roosevelt area. Wildlife can be seen throughout the park at any place and any time. However for the better chances of spotting bears and wolves, the open plains of the Lamar and Hayden Valleys would the prime areas. All of the visitor centers offer a wealth of information on current park activities, and most have a park ranger on duty to answer questions as well. The rangers are very knowledgable, helpful, and friendly, and they want you to enjoy your YNP experience, so don%26#39;t be afraid to speak with them.

There are over 1,000 miles of hiking trails available in YNP, ranging from sightseeing walks on boardwalks and paved trails around some of the popular geothermal sites, to extended back country excursions designed for serious hikers and back packers.

If you have not already done so, go to the following link for the answers to just about every question you might think of, including hiking and fishing information.

You are going to have a wonderful family experience!

Here%26#39;s a link to what we did and saw in June 2008. We spent 3 days at Roosevelt.

There are grills available at Roosevelt by the picnic tables. There%26#39;s horseback riding there too.

I could be cold when you%26#39;re there. It was still wintry in early June last year.
