I am planning a trip to Yellowstone/Grand Teton this summer with family. What is considered a good time to be there from a weather and crowd standpoint. We are looking at either early/mid-July vs. early/mid August. Is there any different at all?
Thanks for any suggestions you may have?

Summer visit - July vs. August
Not much difference in either. Since Yellowstone is basically only ';open'; in the sense of driving in from May through September, its the shoulders where there are fewer people and the weather is more variable.
Even though those are peak times in the park, because it%26#39;s so BIG, you won%26#39;t notice it much. It%26#39;s not like going to DisneyWorld -- but if there are things like horseback riding, rafting, chuckwagen dinners, you should make reservations in advance.
The weather will likely be beautiful, but be prepared for an occasional afternoon thunderstorm -- they can move in very quickly.
Since you don%26#39;t have dates, I%26#39;m assuming you don%26#39;t have lodging reserved. This needs to be done immediately -- You may find some in-park cancellations by calling Xanterra, but planning this late you need to hussle. Since you have flexibility on dates, perhaps you can use that to your advantage to find a night or two open. Cancellations do happen, just keep calling (note: calling is better for finding cancellations than using their website).

Thanks for the insight, Shell Net.
I am also looking for recommendations for the Grand Teton area. I am looking for something in the Jackson Hole area that is reasonable. Since we don%26#39;t plan to spend much time in the room :-), it does not have to super comfy or high end.
Thanks again
