The ';When is Spring'; question makes me wonder how hot is summer? We%26#39;re planning to visit in early August and I%26#39;m planning to pack layers for a range of temperatures, but because of the altitude, I wonder if I even need to worry about being too hot. I%26#39;m used to a tropical climate (80s), so I usually put on a sweatshirt if it drops down to the 70s! Does it get very humid? Will it ever go into the 90s?
How hot is summer?
Again - no hard and fast answer to this question.
The temperatures can get into the 90%26#39;s in early Aug. - but only briefly and still with cool temps at night. Humidity is not a big factor here, so temps will feel cooler for you coming from a tropical climate.
You are most likely to encounter temperatures in the 70%26#39;s during the day, dropping into the 40%26#39;s, even 30%26#39;s, at night - so definitely plan a wardrobe of layers!
Have fun!
How hot is summer?
Agreed. Plan for layers and always be prepared. It could be hot, it could be cold. We went in late July early August and we wore shorts the whole time. We packed sweatshirts in the truck in case we needed them in the mornings and only did once, and that was because it was sprinkling. But we do come from Wisconsin and the temperatures can fluctuate from below freezing to 80+ degrees in the same day.
Pack for layers and enjoy!
No matter how ';hot'; during the day, it will cool down at night. Nights average 38 degrees F in August.
This is so helpful -- thank you! Doesn%26#39;t sound like I%26#39;ll need anything sleeveless. I%26#39;ll probably start with my ';winter'; clothes and add to that.
