We have a trip planned to YNP and Teton%26#39;s June 12-21. 2 nights Tetons Cowboy cabins, 2 nights West Yellowstone, Three Bear Lodge, 2 nights Cody, B Bills Antlers Inn, 2 nights Canyon, Frontier Cabins.
I scheduled a horseback ride at Canyon for June 21. That is the first day of riding in the canyon area. Will it be too cold and wet for this? Should I schedule a ride near one of the other places we are staying? We have two sons 10 years old that have never ridden a horse before. Should we ride in the park? or outside?
1hour horseback rideYou may also be able to ride in Cody as well as in Canyon area. You may get more for your money there (2 hour ride for the same price as a 1 hour inside the park!)
Also look at a float trip on the Snake River while in Tetons.
1hour horseback ridethanks so much for the info about cost in Cody. I think for a first time ride 1 hour will be fine. But do you think the Canyon will have more scenery or wildlife than Cody? I would guess Cody would be a bit warmer. But what about seeing wildlife.
I did set up a river ride with dave hansen on the snake river.
Your chances of seeing wildlife are better with the ride at Canyon - I would stay with that. There are never any guarantees on the weather, but you should be fine then. Just dress warmly - layers, so you can take them off as the day warms up.
Dave Hansen is a good choice for the rafting trip too.
Enjoy!
