we will be staying in victor and I looked on the map to get to jackson. Hwy 33-20 looks like it has a lot of curves, and it%26#39;s in the mountains. How is driving this road. I%26#39;m not use to driving in mountain. Is it a scary road?

You are staying in Victor to save some bucks. This road has the steepest grade in America, the steepest. Do you like roller coasters? I love driving this road in the summer. Won%26#39;t do it in the winter, no no.

No i dont like roller coaster. Now i%26#39;m thinking of finding another place to stay. Is the only road into jackson? Do we drive on this road to get to yellowstone%26gt;
Rt 33-20 from Victor into Jackson will take you over Teton Pass, and yes it is mountainous, and often closed in the winter. However, depending on the time of year you will be there it shouldn%26#39;t be all that bad. While there are some curves, and signifcant elevation changes, the road isn%26#39;t a narrow little two lane, with switchbacks and white knuckle curves. It%26#39;s actually a wide, modern highway, and it%26#39;s quite scenic, specially when coming down the Jackson side.
From your remark about getting into Yellowstone, I sincerely hope that Victor will just be a one night stop for you on your way in, and not a base for visiting GTNP/YNP.
VIctor is a beautiful town, but it is not really the place to stay if you want to visit the Tetons or even Jackson.
It would be too far and slow for me and I don%26#39;t even mind mountain driving and thought that long switchback section rather fun.
We will be staying at Teton Springs Resort in late june, we rented a cabin for 5 days. I couldn%26#39;t find anything closer for 6 people without costing alot. We dont mind driving I just dont like mountain driving. I did drive around lake tahoe It was really scary. But I did it.
I could never drive this stretch myself (too scary!), but my husband did a beautiful job. It may be one of, if not the, most beautiful drives I have ever done. Even if you%26#39;re staying in Jackson, it is worth a drive to Victor just for the scenery and experience. It is not a drive that you%26#39;d want to do daily, as it would become a hassle just to get into town and to the parks. Also, if I remember correctly, there aren%26#39;t any guardrails along the sides. Make sure your breaks are good!
%26lt;%26lt;We dont mind driving I just dont like mountain driving.%26gt;%26gt;
Well, you%26#39;ll get it.. twice a day.
Unless you want to stay in Victor, enjoy the forest, explore the backside of the Tetons. It could be very relaxing.
ok, I think I%26#39;m going to have to change my plans. So you think we should find a place in Jackson? Any suggestion? I stated looking at different places. The problem is that we are 6 women and I was trying to find something that we could all stay together. Hotels etc we would have to get 2-3 rooms so we wouldnt be together. I looked into resorts with 2-3 rooms. They want $1000.00 a day. I was looking into the Trapper Inn. They have 2 suites that would be next to each other. That would even cost us $200.00 each more than the 3000sq ft log cabin in victor. So any ideas. thats for the help.
Sorry, I can not help you with lodging for a large group like that in Jackson, but location is the reason why the cabin out in Victor is so much cheaper. You might try the Jackson Chamber of Commerce for suggestions.
patann - it might help us a lot to know what your group of 6 women want to be doing for 5 days in the Tetons? Are you planning on visiting Yellowstone? Do you just want down time in beautiful mountains? Are you flying into Jackson or Salt Lake? Or are you driving in? Or do you really want 5 days in Jackson, for shopping and dining? Without an idea of what you want in a vacation we%26#39;re shooting in the dark.
