Access to Norris Geyser Basin

Once the road between Norris and Mammoth closes in Aug., will I still be able to get to the Norris Geyser Basin coming from Mammoth Springs, or will the only approach to the Geyser Basin be from the south when I%26#39;m staying at Old Faithful?

Access to Norris Geyser Basin

Well, you will still be able to get to it, but it will be a longer route. Mammoth to Tower to Canyon to Norris to be exact :) It will be closer to Old Faithful for sure if you want to put it off till then.

Access to Norris Geyser Basin

You%26#39;re trying to close the wrong road. It%26#39;s the road between Madison and Norris that closes August 17th. You%26#39;ll be able to access Norris directly from Mammoth, although there may be some delays due to construction.

Please reference the maps in the following links. Pay close attention to the large map at the bottom of the first page showing just where the roads will be affected and when.

On the second map you can see that the Norris Basin is right at the Norris junciton, north of the road closure. In fact the road is still open south of there as far as the Artist Paintpots. Reference the following map for the location of this and other attractions.

If you click on this map it will zoom in for better viewing. You also can click and drag the map to better view a particular area.

Ah, yes--thank you very much for the specified links! It won%26#39;t be as bad as I%26#39;d thought.
