National Park Service YNP road construction/closures 2009

Thanks for posting this... it will save me from wasting time!

National Park Service YNP road construction/closures 2009

Us, too! We%26#39;ll be there in June and had plans to travel all these roads. Have a great time at YNP!

If you go to that website and then click on the road improvement option you will also learn that some of the boardwalks will be closed:

Fountain Paint Pots (south of Madison) - South end parking and toilets OPEN. North end parking and boardwalk temporarily CLOSED.

Midway Geyser Basin (south of Fountain Paint Pots) - Parking area and vault toilets OPEN. All boardwalks temporarily CLOSED.

Anyone know dates for those opening back up? We%26#39;ll be there Memorial weekend and were hoping to concentrate on that side of the park.

I think it%26#39;s closed because of bear management; if that is indeed the case it looks like it will open up the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.

My computer doesn%26#39;t let me copy links, but if you go to the NPS website and then type ';bear management area'; in the search, a map comes up of all the areas. I think the areas you wondered about fall under Area A.

Thanks kren, good searching! ,,,that is a good possibility...since it was listed on the road closures page it made it sound like they were doing repairs on the boardwalks.

That would be great if they opened the boardwalks the Memorial day weekend as well as the firehole road.

The boardwalks are closed because they are replacing boards in the boardwalks right now. (We were by them on Saturday.)

In most cases, they will open by Memorial Day weekend per rangers.

Thanks yellowstonefan...It has been awhile since we have spent any time in that area of the park and I really didn%26#39;t want to miss it...
