Hi. My family will be making the trip from the Dallas area through colorado and eventually arriving at Colter Bay Village for 1 night on June 7th. We have a group of 8 (5 adults and 3 children aged 10 to 13). I see that there are at least 2 routes into the Tetons - taking rte 189/191 through Jackson or rte 26/287 through Dubois. We plan to spend one night in either town before going on to the tetons and then YNP for the next 6 days. Jackson seems to be larger and bustling but a bit more money for lodging. Dubois seems to be less money but has less facilites. Any thoughts on these 2 route options? We%26#39;ll probably be arriving at night after a long days drive.
Dubois or Jackson?
We like Jackson because of the shopping and good restaurants.
Dubois or Jackson?
I was in both cities a week ago, and Jackson is where you want to stay.
Aside from the Big Horn Sheep Center in Dubois, there really isn%26#39;t a whole lot more. Jackson might be a bit touristy, but in this case I%26#39;d opt for it, hands down.
With the kids, I say Jackson as well. However, we stay in Dubois -- it%26#39;s a great little town. If you decide to save money and stay in Dubois, there is plenty to see and do for a night%26#39;s stay.
We probably wont spend much time in either city. According to Google Maps Jackson is about 30 minutes extra time wise on our route which is not that much considering. It sounds like Jackson would be the better route. It looks like hotels are about 50% or so higher in Jackson. I guess you pay more for the attractions.
