Float Trip Or White Water Rafting

Can anyone tell me about the white water rafting trips. I%26#39;m trying to decide between that and a float trip. I%26#39;m not very brave and we have a nine year old who%26#39;s tiny. I%26#39;d hate to lose her. I know my husband would prefer the white water rafting. Any info or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

Float Trip Or White Water Rafting

We did a white water trip with Jackson Hole Whitewater with three kids age 7, 9, 11. It was very fun and safe. The rapids were exciting for all, but not dangerous.

Float Trip Or White Water Rafting

Thank you. Can you tell me who you used?

We did a float trip with Barker-Ewing in June 2007 and all of us loved it including my 2 teenagers.

I think you all would enjoy either during a whitewater trip or a scenic and whitewater combo trip (which a few companies offer). The whitewater is a fun section and it is exciting and you will get wet. But it is not a trip that is overwelming. I think the minimum age for kids is 5 or 6 years old for a lot of the season. What I would definitely recommend is calling a company and chatting with them about the trip so you feel better. My family comes to town a lot during the summer time and they always use Dave Hansen Whitewater and have a great time.

We used Jackson Hole Whitewater (www.jhww.com). They were great.

We did a whitewater and scenic combination trip last year with Dave Hansen Whitewater and it was super. Have two young teenage girls and they loved it and we are coming back this year and doing it again. My wife was a little hesitant about the trip too just because she is not the most adventurous, but thought it was great and is excited for the trip again this year. It was exciting, but we never felt like it was dangerous. We went with Dave Hansen Whitewater and they were fabulous.

Thank you. I have looked up the Dave Hansen website and we have decided to do the combo float/whitewater trip. How far in advance do you think I should book this? I could book now except I%26#39;m a little leery of their cancellation policy.

It depends on what time of year that you are coming. If you are coming anywhere between mid June and the end of August, I would probably recommend making some reservations. I am not too sure about their cancellation policy. I looked on their website really fast and it looks like it is 48 hours. I would not worry too much about the weather if you are coming during the summer. The weather is usually pretty nice (high 70s-80). Everyday, there will be the ';chance'; of thunderstorms, but they move in and out of the valley very quick.

I would book now. We had been trying to decide which raft to go with and how long of a combo trip. I waited and a few days later all of the trips for the size of raft we decided to go with on the day we wanted to go were full. We just adjusted and went with the other raft size, but they are filling up.

Thanks for all the good advice.
