Please help w/ my lodging

For now these are the best they have...are they ok or should I try calling in for better cabins/rooms (what would you recommend?)

Day 1 GTNP: Jackson Lodge

Day 2 Old Faithful Inn Room (no cabin avail) w/ bath

Day 3 Roosevelt Cabin w/o bath

Day 4 Mammoth HS Western Cabin w/ bath

Day 5 Mammoth HS Western Cabin w/ bath

Day 6 Canyon Western Cabin w/ bath

Day 7 Canyon Western w/ bath

Day 8 GTNP Jackson Lodge

Day 9 Fly home early morning

Please critique my lodging plan? Is this too much moving around? These are the ONLY availability they have for now. I want to stay longer at Old Faithful and forego Roosevelt but they don%26#39;t have anything on that date. They don%26#39;t have anything at Lake either. Originally I want to 1 night at each lodge and 2 at Old Faithful. I%26#39;m mainly interested in visiting some of the major geysers/thermal activities, scenic drives, wildlife , general scenic hikes, and water activities like kayaking and white water rafting. Thank you in advance for your help.

What%26#39;s left??? :) Horseback riding...

I agree with your point about moving around so much and would focus, if possible, on Canyon lodging, one less at Mammoth. As your trip approaches, you can call Xanterra repeatedly in hopes of a change to Canyon or Lake.

Thinking further, if it%26#39;s of interest, you could leave Mammoth and spend a night in Cody, via the very scenic Beartooth Hwy., and see the rodeo or the truly interesting Buffalo Bill Museums.

How about this option?

Day 2 OFI

Day 3 and 4 Canyon

Day 5 Mammoth

Day 6 and 7 Canyon

Day 5 is the problem...nothing available except for Mammoth.

I realize I cannot do everything on this trip, but I will try to focus mainly on wildlife/geysers at YNP and white water rafting in GTNP. I will try to head out of Beartooth Hwy as that is also on my list ... I may add a couple extra days if I can. I wanted to finalize on lodging before booking my flights. Thanks in advance.

alliecat, I was only teasing you! Your comment used the word ';mainly';, followed by everything else. :)

You have planned a lot of time for the YNP experience and will have, in fact, the opportunity to ';see it all';, and many would be jealous of your time in the park.

Your new plan sounds good to me.

If during your stay you choose to see Red Lodge or Cody, you can make that decision later.
