Hi,
Me and my wife are planning to visit yellowstone national park this June. We have never been to any national parks before hence we are clueless. We are looking to spend 5 days at this beautiful place. Just need some help from experts like you as to how I should plan these 5 days. We will be driving from central Wisconsin.
having said that, which entrance will best for us ? for me easiest would be east but I am willing to put extra driving hours if needed be.
Any info would be appreciated as I am clueless right now at planning this trip.
Thanks and Regards,
Tausif

First of all visit www.nps.gov/yell . Do you have lodging reservations yet? Are you camping? Reservations book way in advance for all in park lodging. If you can%26#39;t get rooms inside the park, then West Yellowstone is the best bet.
Get your lodging first, then we can help with planning the specifics. Think about stopping in Cody WY for a night and also visiting Grand Teton Nat Park.

Here%26#39;s something we put together to help folks plan their first visit to Yellowstone.

It should help a good bit.
I have not made any reservations yet as was not sure where I want to stay ....
i did go on Xanterra and looks like there is no in park lodges available ....
any suggestions ?
btw, i am looking for reasonable accommodations ......
thanks
Just one suggestion - don%26#39;t rely on the Xanterra website. There are always cancellations and it%26#39;s impossible for them to keep up with these on the site. Call them at 1-866-439-7375 to see what actual availability is - and keep calling as this changes several times a day.
If you are still unable to obtain accommodations in the park, I would suggest checking the West Yellowstone motels. This location would give you a fairly convenient base from which to access YNP.
Good Luck!
thanks for the suggestion ... i will keep on calling them to find any accomodations inside the park ...
btw, how are accomodations near northeast entrance (silvergate) ?
will that be comfortable base location to tour the YNP ?
Yellowstone Park is huge and you will find that the driving is slow due to the 45 mph speed limit and the animal jams that stop traffic until they decide to leave. I%26#39;ve stayed in Cooke City and found the accommodations basic but clean. It%26#39;s an OK place for a couple of nights if you cannot stay inside the park. I would plan on moving to West Yellowstone for the rest of your nights to have easier access to that side of the park.
Here is a map of the park with the sights named so you can have a better idea of what there is to see. Once you have looked at a name that sounds interesting, use Google or Yahoo to search out the things that are special about that site.
