Yellowstone NP @ six months pregnant

I will be in Yellowstone for 2 days this July with my husband while six months pregnant. Is there enough to see/do given the circumstances? Obviously anything too ';intense'; is out - but we are definitely open to visits to Old Faithful and leisurely strolls to enjoy the outdoors and scenery.

Thank you in advance!

I would think the only thing that would bother you is the change in elevation from Florida. Drink plenty of water and wear a hat during the afternoon, especially at the Old Faithful area- the sun really gets warm there in the afternoon. Also, have a good pair of walking shoes. You shouldn%26#39;t have any problems walking the normal tourist areas where there are boardwalks. Most have benches to sit and rest if you need it.

If you were physically active before getting pregnant and continue to be active during your pregnancy you should do fine with the walking. My daughter will be 6 months pregnant in August when we plan on doing our 26 mile backpacking trip over the Beartooth Mountains. She has already informed me (chuckling all the time) that I%26#39;ll be carrying all the heavy stuff.

Puzzled a bit, breaking down your questions... there is plenty to do and to see. You won%26#39;t have to walk to see the wildlife and, probably, will sit or stand a lot just gawking. Only 2 days?

Make sure your doctor is ok with you visit higher elevations. Once in the park, plenty of very short hikes from the parking lot to the views. Old Faithful, Canyon viewpoints, Lake Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, Hayden Valley, Lamar Valley. So much to see and do, really 2 days is not enough!

I did a number of 1+ mile hikes here in NM while 6-8 months pregnant.

Visit www.nps.gov/yell for plenty of info, maps etc.

Just to clarify, many of the viewpoints and locations are more like walks than hikes. As soon as you are out of the car and see them, you can decide whether you wish to proceed or, having started, when it%26#39;s time to return to your car.

We all strongly advocate a cooler for beverages and snacks, sandwiches, etc. Then you are not rushed to return to a dining room/cafe when interested in your then current location. Cheap styrofoam ones are available at towns around the park.

This was more than helpful! Yes, only two days because we will be in Victor, ID and Jackson Hole prior to attend the wedding of a family member. I figured two days is better than nothing and we will surely be back with our kids in the future.

We wanted to take advantage of being so close to the park.

I think the general concensus is that we can easily find ';walks'; that are not considered strenuous and, therefore, be able to fully appreciate our surroundings.

Thank you for your thoughts and keep them coming if there are more!
