which are the best picnic areas?

Hi! I%26#39;m planning my trip to the park and I was wondering which of the picnic areas you would recommend? I don%26#39;t really care about the facilities; I%26#39;m just happy with sitting on a rock and having my lunch, as long as I have a great view to look at ;)

thanks!

Here%26#39;s some we like:

Yellowstone Picnic area in Lamar Valley.

Any of the ones along the river south of Madison.

Sheepeater Cliff south of Mammoth. Good place to see marmots.

The ones in south Hayden Valley along the river.

Actually all are nice enough and you don%26#39;t know what might show up. They all have facilities, I think.

The park is so large, you will might not plan for a given area, as much as pick one near your location whilst driving between sights. Certainly pick those suggested above, but be flexible and get that large cooler!

You%26#39;ll ';have a great view to look at'; no matter where you stop!!

Here%26#39;s a link giving a list of the picnic areas: www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/picnic.htm

As Voyaging said, just take your cooler with you and pick a place where you happen to be.

A couple of my favorites are the same as AKJ%26#39;s: anyplace along the Madison River or in Hayden Valley. Anyplace along the Yellowstone River is very nice too. One of my favorites is Lava Creek - if you happen to be in that area at lunchtime, take a look.

Enjoy!

You will be in YELLOWSTONE Noelia!!!You will be surrounded by great views wherever you go, so don%26#39;t worry about finding that perfect spot. As the others have said, the perfect picnic spot is wherever you

are when you get hungry. Oh, and the actual picnic areas do have tables, so you shouldn%26#39;t have to sit on a rock! ;-)

Enjoy!
