4th July! will it be a problem

Hi, We will be flying into Denver on the 2nd July with the intention of visiting YNP, Teton, Devil%26#39;s Tower, Mount Rushmore %26amp; Scotts Bluff. Don%26#39;t know which way round to do it as we forgot about 4th July celebrations. Will places be closed, we expect everywhere to busy, do we need to book hotels in advance! Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

4th July! will it be a problem

Hi Mickeymouse,

All hotels, motel, restaurants, gas stations, and tourist attractions will be open for the 4th of July. It%26#39;s defiantly a good idea to get reservations and soon, especially for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th and especially for the Yellowstone area. The biggest crowds are likely to be at Mount Rushmore for their fireworks display; I think its on the 3rd.

Everything will be open, as mentioned. Not banks. BTW, it is pretty late to get reservations in YNP, so you might have to accept what is available, especially inside the park, and possibly move to a new location once or twice. I prefer in the park lodging for the national park experience, proximity to the numerous sights and areas, and to avoid driving in and out of the park morning and, especially, at night. Do try to bring binoculars.

Thank you both for your advise, we will go west first to YNP and make South Dakota %26amp; Nebraska our last places. You confirmed my thoughts that that Mount Rushmore might be very busy.

Just one further suggestion. I don%26#39;t know your driving route, but would avoid going through small towns on the 4th - they usually have big parades and you can get held up for quite some time. The road through town where I live closes down for about 2 hours!

I would head to Jackson Hole first then into YNP, Cody, Devil%26#39;s Tower, Black Hills of SD and then back to Denver. I agree small towns shut down for the 4th of July activities but if you are in YNP you should have no problems.

Cody has their big rodeo on the 4th of July...might be fun.
