Can anyone provide a recommendation for a horseback riding outfitter in the West Yellowstone or Mammoth area? Family of five going in July.
I am interested in hearing from anyone who had an experience, good or bad, with Yellowstone Wilderness Outfitters.
Thanks.

I%26#39;m not familiar with the Outfitter you asked about, so can%26#39;t give you any feedback on them.
I don%26#39;t know your level of experience or how challenging a ride you%26#39;re looking for, but here%26#39;s a link from the YNP site that has info on in-Park riding - and also lists of recommended outside Outfitters that you could call for more information:

The only riding my family has done has been booked through Xanterra, who handles the in-Park reservations. They do 1 and 2 hour rides at Mammoth, Roosevelt, and Canyon. They%26#39;re pretty low-key rides and we%26#39;ve had good experiences with them. The ride and cook-out combo is really nice - lots of good scenery followed by good food!

I am not familiar with Yellowstone Wilderness Outfitters either, but I hope that someone who is will offer some insight. After reading their web site their pack trips sound awesome!
MadTown- Can I ask you a couple of questions? Are you interested in riding in Yellowstone or outside the park? Are you experienced riders? Are you looking for a 2-hr, 4-hr, or 8-hr trip? Are you all over 8 years of age? Do you want mountain trail riding?
My wife and I went on Yellowstone Wilderness Outfitters%26#39; six day Thorofare trip. It was just amazing. 80 miles through some of the most remote wilderness in Yellowstone. It was so beautiful and the food was out of this world. I can%26#39;t vouch for his day rides, but the owner, Dr. Jett Hitt, runs first rate pack trips. One of the guides was a wildlife biologist, and they were all well spoken and well educated. Given the quality of his guides on our trip, I%26#39;ll bet he has similar people running the day rides.
We got interested in the trip because heard Jett%26#39;s symphony playing on the radio--that%26#39;s right, this outfitter writes symphonies! We loved the music so much that we bought a copy of the CD (Yellowstone for Violin and Orchestra), and before we knew it, we were signing up for one of his trips. (How%26#39;s that for a marketing gimmick?) Neither of us had really ridden before, and it turned out to be the experience of a lifetime. I suspect that there is no other experience like this on the planet. There was one guy on the trip who had been on it twice before, which tells you how incredible it was. You can check out his movie and hear some of his music at:
