Need some help/confirmation of our proposed intinery. We are two adults with a rental car and this is what we are thinking.
July 30th Fly from Denver to Jackson Hole and pick up rental car around 4pm. Sightsee a bit as we drive through the Grand Teton on our way to Yellowstone Lake Hotel and spend the night.
July 31st Explore West Thumb area, Old Faithful and geyser area. Drive to Canyon Lodge to spend the night.
August 1st Explore around Norris, maybe double back to Tower-Roosevelt area? Drive to Mammoth Hot Springs to spend the night.
August 2nd Explore Mammoth Hot Springs area. Drive to Bozeman (78 miles) for flight at 5pm or 7pm.
My husband really wants to see the geysers, volcanic type activity where you go out on the boardwalks, etc. I like wildlife and waterfalls. We are both in good condition and can hike (in our upper 40%26#39;s) Any suggestions/help on our itin would be very much appreciated. I realize this is not much time but we are limited as to our time off to visit and have been wanting to see at least part of the park for many years. THANK YOU THANK YOU in advance.
Is this a good plan?Either 7/31 or 8/1, head south from Canyon and check out the Upper and Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon. Keep going through Hayden Valley and then back up to Canyon. You could easily do this late afternoon or early evening on 7/31.
ON 8/1, head into Lamar Valley from Tower Junction. I don%26#39;t know how much you%26#39;ll see as late as you%26#39;ll be there but do it anyway. Might get lucky.
You%26#39;ve got the thermals reasonably covered but you%26#39;ve got some time in there to cruise for wildlife too. Plus you see some beautuful scenery in those areas too.
