I%26#39;ll be staying in Yellowstone for Labor day week in September. Is it necessary to reserve campsites for that time of the year? Looks like Canyon campsite will be closed and the road from Madison to Norris, will be shut down as well.
Would staying at Bridge Bay be the most central location to everything left?
September - Camping Situation
If you haven%26#39;t already seen this, here is a link with info about the campsites: nps.gov/yell/…camping-in-yellowstone.htm
It looks like Canyon is open until Sept.6. If you%26#39;ll be here after that, Bridge Bay would be a good choice - the Lake area is lovely and pretty centrally located.
I would call Xanterra to find out if you need reservations.
Yes, the road will be closed for repairs north of Madison Junction through Gibbon Canyon after Aug.17, but it shouldn%26#39;t impact you too much if you%26#39;re staying at Bridge Bay. The road will be open south of Norris down to Gibbon Meadows and the Artist Paint Pot area, if you want to check those out.
Have Fun!
